coaltide | COALTIDE Episode IV: A New Hope

It is a period of indecision.
Gaming gone right for some,
coalies successfully snagging
the assignment they wanted,
the first major hurdle against
Yuletide odds is a victory.

However for those not as lucky
to have gotten the recipient they
wanted, coalies can't help but
think about the hidden requests,
missed bullet and gem alike,
they now have to wait months
to get access to.

Haunted by these assignments that
could have been, or perhaps
mourning the gaming attempt that
went awry, coalies tell themselves
that they will get started on their
assignment right away so that they can
treat to their hearts content and
restore happiness to the Yuletide galaxy....

liesmyth: Letter is waaay too long but I love all the prompts, so.

lionessvalenti: Wants Grace-centric post-canon fic featuring Mr. Le Bail and doesn't mind shipping them. Really like this one.

jillyfae: Wants aftermath fic of Grace living her best life. Here for that. Would treat.

lenore: Will clearly take Grace/Daniel shipfic however they can get it. Cheers to that!

logorrhea: I hate the letter format (pastebin, ugh) but I love that they requested Charity.

reeby10: Letter is too long (which, obviously, I could forgive if I liked it, but one of their dislikes is a major but niche kink of mine so I'm not feeling generous). Prompts are fine but nothing new.

Ah, I think reeby's letter would be more reader-friendly if it had anchor links for each fandom, just to make finding the one of interest easier!

Definitely, it's fine otherwise.

Alderas - They ship my OTP Grace/Daniel and they have some nice, specific prompts, including one with a nice canon workaround I hadn't thought of before. Unsure if "I don't mind Alex if included." means they're open to the incest OT3??

Highsmith - Literally nothing but a paragraph of DNWs, including "(Or, don't be a douchebag even if the characters sometimes are.)" LOL fuck you buddy.

jillyfae - Only gen prompts, which I'd have a bit harder time with, but they love Grace a LOT and I respect that. Not my first choice of requests to write for because I'd have to think a bit harder about what to write, but if an idea did come to mind I'd happily write for this person.

kototyph - Requests three characters but only mentions one in their one paragraph of discussion for the request (which is still longer than their other two requests put together). Not inspiring. Pass.

Lenore - There's nothing identifiably wrong with this letter, but somehow it doesn't click with me, even though they ship my ship. There are prompts, but none of them speak to me. Somehow the paragraphs feel too wordy?

liesmyth - They ship the ship, they have tons of great prompts of varying length and complexity, they've got a great list of likes including smutty likes, this is the dream assignment.

lionessvalenti - Grace and Le Bail isn't a combo I'd thought of before, either gen or shippy (this person wants either), but I'm intrigued. Some good prompts with the right degree of specificity and open-endedness.

logorrhea - Requests only Charity. Not something I'm into writing, but I hope they get the Charity fic of their dreams.

outruntheavalanche - I like that they prompt for lots of different combos of their requested characters, with very open-ended prompts. Good list of general likes. I like their emphasis at the beginning of their letter about being open to horror, gothic horror, and darkfic. I feel like I could let this request rattle around for a bit, and I could come up with a fic I'd really enjoy writing.

reeby10 - Really like that they list their various mini-challenges in their letter. Not many prompts for Grace/Daniel, but I could make something work out of the ones that are there. If I'd matched on Le Bail instead, I'd be a little bummed - their request for him is very "I'd like anything!"

Overall, top choices for treating would be liesmyth, jillyfae if I could come up with an idea because I love their Grace enthusiasm, Alderas, outruntheavalanche, probably in that order. Surprised NO Daniel/Alex, as that's been a mainstay in exchanges this year.

Alderas here, absolutely would not mind incest OT3 and did not know it was something I needed in my life till now.

lol up until your last paragraph I was really confused by your ordering because it looked like you ranked Highsmith 2nd when you hated their sign up, like the disdain had inspired you XD
