COALTIDE Episode IV: A New Hope
It is a period of indecision.
Gaming gone right for some,
coalies successfully snagging
the assignment they wanted,
the first major hurdle against
Yuletide odds is a victory.
However for those not as lucky
to have gotten the recipient they
wanted, coalies can't help but
think about the hidden requests,
missed bullet and gem alike,
they now have to wait months
to get access to.
Haunted by these assignments that
could have been, or perhaps
mourning the gaming attempt that
went awry, coalies tell themselves
that they will get started on their
assignment right away so that they can
treat to their hearts content and
restore happiness to the Yuletide galaxy....
Assignments out: between 26 & 28 October

Re: Preference Rating Game
(Anonymous) 2020-10-27 01:18 am (UTC)(link)1. othersideofthis: I don't actually think this letter is technically better than the ones below it, but something like a modern au for a historical canon is the type of thing I would jump at and no one else seems to be looking for anything interesting like this (although there isn't anything wrong with canon compliant fic, I just wish the other letters had an interesting take or seemed like they were open to interesting takes). Even though I prefer longer letters and more prompts, this one kind of makes me want to try getting into the fandom to treat them because I could write something really interesting. It really just takes one standout prompt/likes list combination for me to be a stand out letter.
2. minebyrights: Normally this would be the letter I'm all over but the prompts left me feeling a bit meh. I liked the likes and DNWs. This letter feels like it would be great for a fanartist but as an author I probably wouldn't get over 3k. Their prompts are easy to write, I can see that even without knowing the movie, but it doesn't make me want to draw anything out or get into their fandom to make it happen. This is probably the letter I would be the most happy to match to because it would be a stress free assignment since the prompts are so clear even if they don't make me want to run out and watch the movie. This would be the one I would be most likely to treat if I was in the fandom because it would be a cakewalk, but it isn't enough to make me want to get into the canon to write for it.
2. idan: Solid likes and DNWs. The prompts left something to be desired but I feel like their "why I like" section works really well to fill in what they don't prompt and the questions brought up answers that I was able to fill in based on their varied likes. Might treat if I was in the fandom, but not enough to get me in the fandom. Wouldn't mind getting it as an assignment.
2. rhovanel: Not exciting, but not bad. I wouldn't mind matching to this letter but it doesn't grab me enough that I feel like I need to treat it or I'll have regrets for missing my chance. Solid likes that work well with the prompts and the DNWs are fine. I kind of wish they had a prompt leaning into the myth aspect because that would be the type of thing that would grab me and make me watch their canon and treat. As it is, having it in there as a mention may work for someone who knows the canon already. Might treat if I was in the fandom, but not enough to get me in the fandom.
3. girlmarauders: Not a fan of this letters format. It isn't a dealbreaker but likes and DNWs at the end always throw me off. I don't that they only really have one prompt, but I do like that they give multiple options for the post-canon ending that would be interesting and in character for them. The most useful thing to me is actually their last paragraph about the film. The likes and DNWs are fine. Wouldn't treat. Would probably be a little let down if it was my assignment.
