I don't want treats. I avoid posting my letter to the letters post for that reason.

Do you still post it to the app?

It's a valid strategy, I guess (though requests are revealed halfway through the writing period and you might still end up with treats), but keep in mind that it will also make some people avoid offering your fandoms.

Nope, I'm not posting it to the app either. I have submitted to the letters post in the past, but eh. It's prob just a me thing.

Of the four years I've done YT, I've not really had a treat I truly enjoyed (the one notable exception being the year where a treat became my main gift), while I have wholeheartedly adored every one of my main gifts.

Tbh I don't mind being unmatchable and going out as an initial pinch hit.

A "I'd rather not receive treats" note in your sign up or letter would be a better way to achieve that, because otherwise you can't guarantee that someone will look through the request summary once it's open, see your request and write you a treat anyway.

I never look at the letters post for treats. I check the app and when I see that there are requests in my fandoms that aren't linked there, I'll go to AO3.

I think that's totally valid and shouldn't be an unpopular opinion! In fact I wish that people who didnt want treats would dnw them-it would save so much time when looking for potential people to write for, and would avoid people getting unwanted fic...

I get where you're coming from, but I use the letters post to find fandoms to offer I haven't thought of so this still makes me a little sad.
