I just feel like a google search would have done the same
I'm way less likely to google than I am read someone's description in a letter I already have open for other reasons. But I'd also just skip that part for canons I do know.

But I also don't find their letter particularly dry, so that probably also contributes to the difference of opinion here. *shrug*
