She wasn't in charge, but she was there and she was on Elyn's side.

This. People seem to forget that the reason Morbane was granted mod powers during the 2.0 era is because she was vocally pro-mod and inserted herself via volunteering*

* not even trying to shade. The way you get into the establishment isn’t by being a lurking NNF and vocally not supporting the prior regime.

I think part of the problem is that she's taken on too much modding in different areas and is dealing with mod burnout without wanting to change things.

Have you got receipts for that? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't remember her being there at all, and would like to know for sure.

Link fairy, are you around?

This has come up a few times! The most salient links I've got for you are as follows -

- Morbane left a positive comment on the fic itself, which may still be on the fic but is also preserved for eternity here (a little over halfway down, right under greerwatson):

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/failfandomanon/images/f/fa/65841643_crop.png

- Her main comment on the admin post about the situation at the time is here:

https://yuletide-admin.livejournal.com/132372.html?thread=5232148#t5232148

- And _coal's discussed her reaction previously at least once:

https://yuletide-coal.dreamwidth.org/6179.html?thread=22983971#cmt22983971

But it's true that she was not on the mod team at that time, IIRC, and also true that it was eight years ago, so.

/link fairy ♥

Thanks, Link Fairy, you're the best.

Not the Link Fairy, but:

Thanks, I appreciate it.

SA

Ugh, that's super cringey.

Also, rereading the comments on the fic for the first time in years... it's worse than I remembered. I sometimes think Cult of Nice gets exaggerated, but it really was something in those days. And boy, is FA Watson a piece of work.

Is she ever.

I find it amusing that in the exchanges she owns (there is/was a Renault one) she is incredibly shirty. IIRC she rigidly confines which works you can write slash about. Anybody who wants can correct me here.

dc - Yeah, there are people who think "Cult of Nice" means "nice in general." It doesn't. It's asshole behavior behind a smarmy(*) faux-nice façade.

(*) not "smarmy" as in "no homo but let's cuddle naked," but as in "unctious and fake"

+1

I haven't looked back at this since it happened and god, a lot of those comments on the fic are utter shit. WTF is up with people defending it? To this day, I boggle at it.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think most of the commenters weren't aware of the problems with the fic as a gift for the recipient in line with the recipient's requests and only read it as a work in its own right without the context.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure, but the ones I'm talking about flat out reference the recipient's reaction to the fic.
