Did you offer f+m+m, or any or something? I guess if the ship is a 5 year old boy and a 70 year old man it might be a little shocking to expect ship, but if you offered two male characters I don’t think anyone who has an an exchange before should be shocked to match to an m/m request, let alone a letter for someone that only likes m/m when they offered two men.

I'm kind of assuming they offered 'any', because otherwise their surprise makes no sense. Then again, they also seem shocked that their recip wants m/m in ALL THEIR REQUESTS like that's at all uncommon or weird, so maybe they're an exchange newbie?

It’s more that it‘s an ensemble where shipping wasn’t really a thing in the fandom, so it’s more “that is not what I expected” + the female characters in the tag set also outnumbered the men 2:1, so I thought I would get more of a mix. And that’s all on me, thus complaining about it on an anon meme.

I’m not saying that you don’t have a right to be shocked! But honestly the random male pairing in a fandom full of women (especially if a lot of the other ships are femslash) is even more of a reason to expect it tbh. If the rest of the fandom is writing about ships/gen they don’t care about, Yuletide is the best chance to get fresh blood for their rare ship. They probably assumed most of the fandom would only select the women of m/f combos and the people offering those two also shipped it. (Which is also on them, because in those types of fandoms people usually will offer Any even though they don’t mean Any, eg a Game of Thrones type tagset.)
