This is perfectly acceptable imho. When I finished my letter I actually went back and edited my sign-up to be much more barebones (although it sounds like somewhat more detailed than yours). I actually feel like providing a relatively slim sign-up and a detailed letter is courteous - it gives someone who doesn't want extensive prompting space to do their work, and it gives those who do want a lot of prompts somewhere to go to get those. I am someone who absolutely requires prompts, and my assignment this year has literally nothing in the sign-up other than fandom and characters - but their letter gives me everything I need so I'm not mad at all.
