This is Yuletide, everybody make a scene

I am the sock with the tear-away face
Low-effort with your gift and gone without a trace
I am the "who" when you call, "Who does an exchange without acknowledging their gift?"
I am the wanker blowing through your fics comments
I am the coalie dragging your letter at night
Filling your exchange to the brim with fright!

This is Coaltide!

You're forgetting the complete filter. Filtering for complete works over 1k in English gives you 617 fics for Fushigi Yuugi on FFN.

Someone was mentioning that because the complete filter wasn't an original feature a bunch of "incomplete" fics on FFN just date from before it was added as a filter and probs shouldn't count. Technically it's eligible, and I don't care enough to bring it up to the mods, but someone could make the argument that it shouldn't be eligible.

promare's still over by a lot with all filters just on ao3. I saw somewhere on the evidence post some tagmod's bookmarklet needed updting/fixing/something/whatever and was giving off numbers, so maybe that's what happened here, even skipping ffn

It's not just that; I've noticed many people forget to set their fics to complete on ff.net when they've completed them, if they're writing WIPs. And if you make a mistake and the submission form tells you to fix it, it unchecks the "complete" box. There's plenty of complete fic on ff.net that's marked incomplete for these reasons, not just because they're ancient.

Whether or not you think it should count, that's what's used and has been for as long as ffnet has had it. If it's consistently applied, then who cares?
