I think the mods probably made the right call for Horse and His Boy, but damn, that's my favorite Narnia book, I would have liked to see what the request was and maybe treat.

I think they should make the same call for Discworld's Monstrous Regiment if someone tries to get it in. One of their reasons was "and Aslan's in the book too", and Vimes is most definitely in MR.

Yeah, but he's not central to MR the way Aslan and the concept of Aslan is to HaHB.

+1 I can see the argument both ways (and I also bet there would have been more pushback about separating out Monstrous Regiment if the Discworld fandom had been bigger when the argument was made), but Aslan comes into the story far earlier in HHB than Vimes does in MR, and Aslan is a thread tying all the Narnia books together whereas Vimes is completely absent from many Discworld books.

otoh the book is completely understandable even if you have no previous knowledge of aslan, just like monstrous regiment is even if you don't know who vimes is
