This is Yuletide, everybody make a scene

I am the sock with the tear-away face
Low-effort with your gift and gone without a trace
I am the "who" when you call, "Who does an exchange without acknowledging their gift?"
I am the wanker blowing through your fics comments
I am the coalie dragging your letter at night
Filling your exchange to the brim with fright!

This is Coaltide!

Are free spots in a fandom offered on the trading post first-come first-served? Or is it at all acceptable to say "hey, maybe let's see if someone else wants a character before we throw in all three of yours"?

I think most people treat them as first-come first-served, but imo it wouldn't be awful to say something like that. Just confusing if no one else does appear.

Honestly, this is exactly why I don't report my noms

The thing is, if the idea is to help someone out so they are able to request or offer the fandom, then limiting it to one character per person might be completely useless to everyone.

You've nommed A, and this person doesn't care about A but would love to request/offer B/C/D. But you are only willing to nom A, B, C, and E (the character another person who has come along later wants), then in the end you've still only fulfilled the wishes of one other person - the later person who just wanted E. Is that any more 'fair' than a first come first served policy?

I've always done it first-come, first-served when I offered free spots. The one exception was when someone suggested I add a couple of fan favorite characters, but said that they weren't planning to request the fandom themselves. In that instance, I waited until someone actually wanting the fandom asked me to add characters.
