I also gotta say that synning Yuletide-eligible subfandoms to ineligible larger fandoms is weird. Like, the point is to be able to find the smaller fandoms.

As much as I don't think AO3 is currently doing a very good job wrangling fandoms, I don't think they should be considering Yuletide eligibility when they're making wrangling decisions.

But they should be considering whether the fandom will be findable. If it's not findable because it's synned to a bigger fandom, it's wrangled ineffectively.

AYRT used YT-eligible and YT-ineligible as descriptors for this scenario, not suggestions for the wranglers.

If the fandoms should be synned then they should be. Fics in larger fandoms aren’t “unfindable.” It they shouldn’t be synned then they shouldn’t be, but not because of the sizes.

Well, if you can't find them by searching fandom tags because they've been synned to another fandom, they're not.

Given that plus synning others to just Original Works or RPF, it's pretty clear that wranglers don't give a shit about small fandoms.
