People calling their authors "recips" drives me crazy. Same with calling the fic they wrote their "gift".

But the fics are gifts.

They're your fics, or the gift you've written for your recip.

"My gift" is the fic written for you.

Do people fuck that up? I think my brain autocorrects because I never notice.

FFA nonnies acting like doing some light editing on a fic post reveals is the worst crime you can commit in Yuletide.

If doing a final edit of my 7,000 word fic means the word count jumps up by 100 or so words that don't change the scene or plot, I don't think anyone is going to lose their minds. Except FFA where everything has to be absolutely perfect when you post!

That thread is so wild.

You know they never notice either because no fics get linked and exposed. A purely hypothetical opinion that they are frothing over for dozens of comments...

People absolutely do notice that shit, though? There are examples in that thread of people being like "yeah, my gift changed after I read it the first time."

Oh coalies. Just look around. Didn't you see the ludicrous thread about whether or not to go to a mod about a fic you liked that only had a little about one of the required characters? All memes are ridiculous.

Right now, each of the meme is complaining about each other, in a revealing circle-jerk that just shows the significant overlap. We're all annoying, we're all neurotic, we all need to touch grass.

There were several people who mentioned fics that were still being revised throughout the day and I would like to know which ones they are

That whole thread started with people saying they were adding whole scenes, and continued with people saying things like "correcting typos is okay, but your fic should not be substantively changing once it goes live." I feel like you read maybe like two comments in that thread.

Yeah, that's one take on the FFA thread. I didn't take away that light editing is bad, but the much bigger changes people are talking about. It's pretty clear that most of the nonnies in the thread think SPAG editing and minor changes like 100 words in a 7,000 word fic is fine.

Or does the author not understand that according to fandom convention, CharacterA/CharacterB/CharacterC means relationship.

Misuse of the convention, looks like on quick skim.

There's no threesome or anything shady, it's pretty good actually. Just a mistake with the slashes and maybe not understanding that it denotes a romantic relationship

So many on here use Yuletide as the time to sublimate their feelings of self-worth onto someone else's fandom output and it's fucking exhausting.

I'm so selfishly aggrieved that my favourite multishipping writer in the fandom was matched to a serial non-commenter. Writer gave the non-commenter iddy longfic for my NOTP.

Buddy, no one cares about your personal experience with non-binary people and how fascinating the experience was. What's more, the awkward csb is longer than what they said about the actual fic.
