Can someone link this? Not only do I kind of want to read it, but maybe a madness treat is in order.

Probable recip already has a decent length treat.

Would be more inclined to treat the writer tbh.

It reads like a bad parody to me, but the recip already rejected it.

Wow, you suck.

Lol mate, you're on an anon meme specifically dedicated to mocking bad YT gifts. Not the best place to be getting all sanctimonious.

CYRT

Show me where it says that, and then you can claim I'm being "sanctimonious".

DC This comm's profile says "Reincarnation of _coal" and if you follow the link there to the original _coal, you'll see the following bio:

Wanna talk about Yuletide without the need to be overly excited or asskissing to the mods?
Need help faking positive feedback?
Want to complain about a gift you received?
Have any juicy want to offer?

Welcome to Yuletide_Coal the anon-meme for all your Yuletide needs.

Hope this helps.

That's what the "coal" in the comm name is referring to.

Lulz, I bet you thought this would be a snappy comeback.

Sucks to be proven wrong so quickly and thoroughly, huh?

"kudos and comments make it so I'll write another fic for next yule. ah ha <3"

Oof.

Is that a promise or a threat, I wonder?

Re: Disappointments

I think it's an inexperienced, and possibly young, writer who tried.

Isn't there a minimum age of 18, technically? I don't actually think it's spitefic, but I don't think it is written by an 18 year old, either.

Well, I'm old, so by saying young I'm thinking early 20ish, somewhere in that decade, without a lot of writing experience (and maybe doesn't read a lot of good fic, just PWPs--those can be good, but many are not).

Yeah, I think if you're that bad in your early 20s, you no longer get the sympathy head-pat of being too young to criticize. I don't think that anyone should flame them, I wouldn't reject (I just don't do that), but like: this fic is not good. It's not actively malicious, but it is terrible and I think we should be allowed to say it is terrible.

Yes, it's terrible. I wouldn't comment and say that, but I think their lack of comments or kudos are telling them that. Hopefully they see it as room for improvement if anything.

I don't blame the recip for rejecting it, though I probably would have done it after the Yuletide rush when maybe the writer isn't paying attention anymore.

Well most of us lie about our age when we're 12-17, but there are people 30+ who unironically are very WOWZERS THAT WAS HOT :PPPPPP and write shitty. If their main fandom is that way too, how will they know what good fic looks like?

Re: Disappointments

I'm *swipes hand across mouth* fifty-ish-ish, and there are plenty of fans my age and older who leave unintelligible squee about hotness and HNNNNNG and ignore stories with careful, crafted characterization. To each his very own. (I'm not above leaving "hot" comments, but typically there's a lot more to it than that.) So I guess really they could be any age. It just reads younger and less well-read to me.

I hope they're not on coal, or if they are, they take it as a challenge to improve.

So? So what? Why do you keep repeating this?

I think I may have said this or similar in two different threads I was following about it because . . . I wanted to?

Looking at the author's previous fics, they're around 28. So not young and inexperienced.
