We want the mods to know because if they do this again, the recip that time may be very upset.

Replace character with any other required thing. “I have x as a dnw but my writer wrote it and I didn’t mind. I asked for fandom y and my author wrote unrequested fandom z and I don’t mind.” I’m really glad OP doesn’t mind, but the author broke the rules. If this is a pattern for them, OP not speaking out now could ruin someones Yuletide next year because the author didn’t realize rules are rules.

Those aren't really comparable. DNWs are potentially triggers or squicks—no-one will ever be triggered or squicked by a character only mentioned in passing.

Crossovers are potentially about at thing you've never heard of before—again, not quite comparable.

Although this recip may not care about all their characters being in a fic, I would guess the majority of Yuletiders literally only want 1k of all their characters at minimum and everything else is gravy, a bar which this fic failed to meet.

Also this will not get them “””””in trouble”””””. The mods will tell them to be more careful it private, and keep an eye on them in the future - there will not be a public trial or banning. Unclench.

NAYRT

It's a scolding. It sucks to be on the end of. And I think it's dumb as hell to tattle like a child on a person for a non-issue when you liked the damn gift.

DC

WTF?! That's not a non-issue, whether the recip liked the fic or not.

If the recip liked the fic, it's a non-issue. Period. Why do you want to encourage complaints about fic people actually liked? what the fuck is the matter with you?

I want to encourage complaints about problem authors. Just because one participant doesn't mind that the fic contains a DNW or is unfinished or isn't about the characters they requested doesn't make this sort of behavior from the author any better.

It's not what they asked for. I might like the sparkly blue shoes, but I really wanted green ones because they go with my dress and the sparkly blue ones won't last.

Wow, what a stupid metaphor. You should be embarrassed.

Needlessly rude.
