It's in the fandoms list for me. As is the first-on-ao3 fic I noticed in Uncategorised Fandoms the other day and immediately decided to stalk. I think maybe... the wranglers were... fast? Am I too optimistic?

Thank you for assembling the whole list, coalie, it's useful to see what's going on.

Disappointed that the fic for an in-universe novel doesn't get its own fandom separate from the parent universe. It doesn't even have to be subtagged if you're trying to avoid tall tag trees!

And I would expect the Cottingley Fairies Hoax to go specifically with literary RPF, since it's so tied up with Arthur Conan Doyle :/

(...and since 20th Century RPF seems like a catch-all for people we don't want to think about the "fandoms" for. It's choked with WWII RPF, Columbine RPF, and other serial-killer RPF.)

I believe CYRT was being sarcastic, because the ship that made it is fairly vintage, but you should know that Seguin is one half of the fandom’s third biggest pairing. And those gifs I’m guessing you saw are central to his characterization.

Do I really, really have to know all players' team pedigree complete with accents and rosters and other hockey rules minutiae to be in the fandom?

Absolutely not. In fact, too much real-life knowledge can hinder one’s enjoyment of fic. The ship also formed after Seguin got traded*, so if you start from the beginning, you’ll probably learn about the Stars at about the same rate as the fandom did.

*The fic will tell you that Tyler was victimized terribly by his old team. This is narratively rich but factually unlikely.
