If I got assigned to someone shitting on our shared fandom, I'd be asking them why are you even in fandoms where you don't like the source material? There's endless source material!

That's the whole purpose of being in fandom (and I only do fandom by the way of fanfic) to me. If I like the source material, I'm not interested in messing with it. Fanfic is purely fix-it for me. And if the canon doesn't suck in some way, there's nothing to fix.
