Morbane's coal

In quantum wankchanics, Morbane's coal is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, of quantum wankerposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical gift may be considered simultaneously both the fic of your dreams (TFOYD) and coal, while it is unread state, as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

The Coaltide interpretation implies that, after a while, the gift is simultaneously TFOYD and coal. Yet, when a coalie clicks on their gift, the coalie sees the gift either TFOYD or coal, not both TFOYD and coal. This poses the question of when exactly quantum wankerposition ends and reality resolves into one possibility or the other.

why say that about misura when *looks at certain other names on list*

like i’m definitely the sort to respect quality more than quantity, but misura is actually good!

On the other hand, only one person disliking the stories out of everyone who reads them is a pretty good indicator that they are not actually bad.

It wasn't even that mean, it just pointedly framed Nazis as bad guys. Like I guess that is mean when you're a Nazi-fucker, but there are much worse ways to do that exact thing, and lolmeme didn't come even arguably close to crossing a DNW. Didn't ars_belli continue in Yuletide for a couple of years after that, though?

Re: rant

(Anonymous) 2024-01-03 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
imo it counts as mean just because the fic had some pointed comments and so many comments/kudos basically saying "thanks for telling this person we don't want them here", but it's not like I think that's a bad thing lol.

ars_belli did YT 2018 (lolmeme's fic was 2017) and that's their last activity on the account. Based on ars_belli's very belated but effusive comment to lolmeme's fic, my personal opinion is lolmeme pulled the plug for them but they did one more year as an "I'm not owned I'm not owned" thing, but that's me extrapolating based on how creeps like that tend to operate.

lol it was only the one year? yeah, that was definite limping off in defeat behavior

I’ve been trying to look for the fic but can’t find it, so: anyone have a link for the fic lolmeme wrote for ars_belli, or even just lolmeme’s ao3?

i thought they were “banned” because wasn’t 2019 the year the mods banned nazi noms? all they wanted was nazi content so once their fandoms were ineligible for yuletide, why (or how) would you sign up?

NC There's always at least one person who is BEC about misura every year, but I assume it's sour grapes. I read and liked multiple stories written by misura this year during the anon period (before I knew they were by misura), so misura was definitely a positive factor in my yuletide experience this year. Good egg!

they were a creep who nommed nazi content but it wasn't remotely their only fandom

I found that from ars_belli's gifts. Looks like this is the last year lolmeme/tricatular wrote fic because there's nothing after 2017 there.

Which two?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-03 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Different coalie: I've read fic by Daegaer and Franzeska outside Yuletide, but never in it. I don't recognize anyone else on that list at all.

Citation needed, for the Morbane part anyway.

+1

Be more obvious why don’t you

I recognize 7 names (including one friend, two people who did an exchange I ran 2004/05, and one massive wanker) and I’ve been in fandom since a few years before Yuletide started

+1000

Got a really fun treat from them this round! They're awesome.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-03 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
can someone pull the authors who wrote nice butts

(Anonymous) 2024-01-03 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
CYRT

Mosca has written a fic (I think it may even have been for Yuletide, a long time ago) that I've reread a lot in the past decade, and I used to be LJ friends with Joanne_C and read a lot of her early 2000s fic. I haven't read anything more recent by them, though, and I've obviously heard of Franzeska from different context and also sandyk and cjmarlowe, but I'm not familiar with their fic output.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-03 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
franzeska lol

Not just your fandoms, but your social circles if you were around back then. I didn't start doing Yuletide until year three or four, but I recognize most of the list, even though I only ever shared fandoms with a fraction of them, just from being friends with a couple of the people on there and talking in the comments of their LJs about general fandom meta or non-fandom things with people.

(Hell, I'm namespace Facebook friends with at least two of them. Fandom-adjacent conversations were how I met most of my post-college real-life friends.)
