I was struggling with my ending too because the conflict was like... let's say, Bob wants to ski, but he's afraid of skiing, and I had to figure out a way to make it so that he makes the characterization jump to go skiing (he gets encouragement from his friends, he takes skiing lessons, etc.). And the ending isn't necessarily him skiing, it's him standing on the edge of the mountain wearing skis, so it's still thematically full circle.
