I’m not yet writing, but I happen to have access to a legal deposit library this year, so I am taking full advantage there to read (and hopefully treat) an obscure book someone’s requested multiple years in a row and that I’ve eyed every time.

Barely an hour before assignments came out, I finished a treat that's in the same fandom as what I've been assigned, but different recip. My assignment is super broad so what I wrote will work for it... Now I have to decide if I just use this treat, or save it for the person I wrote it for.

Maybe they mean nothing darker than canon, or no additional dark events that don't already occur in canon? Could you get a mod to pass a clarifying question along?

Just write something related to the canon that isn't horror? "Darkfic" is a specific kind of grinding, miserable grimdark genre, not just any fic where there's a zombie mentioned in the background, or whatever. Write h/c set during or after the horror, write a character study before or after the canon, write porn involving two characters from the canon, etc.

Porn or a character study would absolutely be my go-to if they hadn't requested worldbuilding (and, somehow, no other characters; I thought we were supposed to request at least one actual character if requesting worldbuilding!).

I initially thought I might have a hard time with this assignment but I woke up with a fully-formed idea of how to go about it and have already written 800 words. (This makes me feel justified in gaming so hard for a fandom I feel this level of comfort writing, another fandom with the prompts I got would have been much harder for me)

I'm someone who can't do treats without at least a finished draft of the assignment, so I'm really happy how fast and smoothly it's going thus far, because I have really ambitious treating goals and the sooner my assignment is finished the sooner I can start making progress on those as well.

Had a really good brainstorming session, and I've got two fic ideas for my recip. I'd really like to write both of them, but who knows?
