Has someone ever languished in pinch hits? Like literally nobody wanted to write a story for them, so the mods ended up having to write one themselves /frantically consume a canon?

Maybe in one of the earlier Yuletide years. Now, I could see that happening for last minute PH's but for ones this early in the cycle, no, I can't remember that happening.

For awhile there were a couple kittyfic writers who would take anything and write badfic based on summaries and the mods would go to them specifically if they were stuck, but that was not a highly appreciated practice and I think they've all quit fandom.

IIRC way back in the day they'd occasionally have to ask people to drop out or add fandoms though.

I also remember that! I doubt there's sources really unless we dug way into the LJ archives, and it might have all been done via email anyway.

I remember that too, but happening more towards the end, not right at the start. The infamous Kitty just picked up a lot whenever she felt like it.

I think they used her for iphs sometimes too if they got stuck? There was another one too I think but she was a slightly better writer and thus less infamous.
