the way you phrased this sounded like they /had/ a bunch of hot takes about the Balkan conflict, but it's the opposite - they DNW hot takes on it, which I take to mean they don't want soapboxing or issuefic. isn't that fine?

Sorry if it was phrased confusingly. That's perfectly fine and a good idea to DNW issuefic. I was just saying that it could be a barrier to entry since I know some people wouldn't want to unknowingly stir up a hornet's nest if they're not familiar enough with the area.
