...the Madness collection would either 1)open on the same day as main collection or 2)disappear altogether and treats would be posted in main.

Madness is a relic of pre-AO3 days, when the complete set of requests wasn’t available until 24 hours before reveals.

I would be happy to see it either disappear entirely, or be rebranded as “Yuletide Shorts” for <1k works, and have it open on the same day as yuletide itself.

"Yuletide Shorts" is a good name- or maybe "Yuletide Extras"?, to include over-1k fic that isn't the recip's main gift for whatever reason.

Also, I hope this isn't a wanky thing to say, but I have always hated the name "Madness".
