Four other requests. Three identical worldbuilding requests by the same person in worldbuildingex, and one by someone I matched in a different yuletide on a different fandom and really enjoyed writing for. All better than my blank-except-for-DNWs match this year! I may pretend I'm writing for previous recip's old request, even though it already got a fill.

Personally I've always followed the PH list by RSS feed rather than email, but it turns out Google Groups have quietly stopped supporting RSS feeds, so I wouldn't have even known there were messages if I hadn't been keeping up with coal and gone to manually check when they were mentioned here.

Same! I don't have a Gmail aaccount so the RSS was really handy - now I've simply subscribed with my Hotmail address so I won't miss any PHs.

Lots of previous requests for this fandom. My recip is on the middling-low end of prompt detailedness, but at least I didn't get "single-paragraph wall of DNWs, short prompt tacked on at the end" or "empty signup" like some of these requests.

It is 100% typical for the fandom, in that every single previous request for this fandom was also made by my recip, and they are all from previous Yuletides. Searching AO3, though, there is no existing fandom tag - so I think this is going to be the first time my recip's request for it has actually gotten filled, which feels pretty awesome! IT'S LIKE I'M THE YULETIDE FAIRY :'D

I think this is a high number of initial PHs, but not extraordinarily high. It's certainly the first time it's taken over 24 hours for the IPHs to be claimed.

I think this may have something to do with a lot of the regulars, many of whom often took pinch hits, not signing up this year.

A lot of people take PHs even when they don't sign up. I've done it in previous years.

I'm really only surprised about #11, since Vampyr seemed to have at least a few active fandom writers. #21 has that perfect storm of a non-English TV show and a sports RPF that's fairly obscure with the short book being the 3rd installment in a series. #23 is all non-English, and has a DNW of hot takes about the Balkan conflict, so that's not an easy PH pick-up. #35 isn't the most obscure of video games, but they're not fandom darlings either (yeah, Yakuza spin-off but there's no Kiryuu or Majima to ship). So maybe 11 and 35 would have gone by now last year, but 21 and 23 were going to linger in any year.

the way you phrased this sounded like they /had/ a bunch of hot takes about the Balkan conflict, but it's the opposite - they DNW hot takes on it, which I take to mean they don't want soapboxing or issuefic. isn't that fine?

At least 4 (I've started all of them, and they are all ideas I'm really excited about and will be very sad if I don't finish).

If I can maintain a steady writing pace and get the 4 out of the way in a reasonable amount of time, I would love to do several more shorter treats on top of that for letters that caught my eye/fandoms I'm waiting for requests for. But I haven't even allowed myself to brainstorm anything for those yet.
