I've been noticing an uptick in extremely new people on coal and ffa recently. CYRT is probably very new to exchanges.

Worldbuilding was nominated for several other books I'd be interested in writing for, but I haven't seen letters for them yet.

I'm perplexed by the request for 'Phedre's Younger Sibling' in Kushiel's Legacy. This 'character' only exists in canon to the extent that it was mentioned Phedre's mother was pregnant. (The mother gets a paragraph of canon.) Idleflower has plenty of interesting ideas about who that sibling might be; she's essentially asking someone to create an OC to explore aspects of the world. I view it as an oddly roundabout Worldbuilding request.

Epistolary/IF Question

If you asked for epistolary fic from a canon that traditionally accesses such thing on tablets, would you enjoy a fic that was IF-ish, with a kind of index set up to look like the tablet menu? Or would you consider that unprompted, opt-in IF and be annoyed?

Exchange is not Yuletide, with an IF opt-in challenge, which I would consider a hard no if they didn't post there.

I think that sounds neat, but I think someone would have to opt-in to IF, interactive elements, or something else that would show their openness to choice-based narrative/unusual formats beyond epistolary format. There is always a small but non-zero possibility that IF elements could be inaccessible to the requester.

CYRT is unquestionably being a jerk, but I don't think there's anything remotely like "cyberbullying" in explaining why a DNW would not make any sense to me if I saw it on a request I was assigned. Unless by "nasty cyberbullies" you just mean CYRT and not other the people in the thread who explained why they couldn't understand the DNW.

I can only speak for myself, but as someone who lists epistolary fic among their likes, yes, I think that sounds fun!-- as long as there is story/substance to it as well, and it's not all about the flashy IF aspects.

Would this index not essentially be a good old-fashioned table of contents in a fancy hat? I wouldn't consider that IF at all, but I might be annoyed if the tablet menu formatting was overly fussy and didn't translate well without a work skin.

I think that if the fic would still be readable if read as plain text - like, if you copy-pasted it to Notepad - and you make sure it also works in a screen reader - and as the ebook download - you're fine.

Due to fear of it being my main assignment without my brain being in the right place, I'm still waiting on letters for The Kingdoms. I'll probably treat, Kingdoms coalies! But what a mad canon. Ditto Ghost in the Shell.
