AYRT

Commenting is the worst part for me and hits a bunch of my neuroses; I figured out this year that what I really wanted to do was write a bunch of treats and not receive anything

Isn't that a US/UK thing?

This. Modding smaller exchanges, I don't look too closely at what people are offering and see if they're gaming unless I have specific reasons to keep a close eye on them, because there are a lot of offers, a lot of defaulters, and a lot of pinch hits. It's just not worth the time. When you're looking at over a thousand participants, oof, there's just no way (unless, again, you know there's something to be concerned about).

And I agree that well-behaved socks aren't a big deal. Behaving well includes actually intending to turn in gifts for each account, though. Agreed with the Al Capone comparison.

It's a regionalism, prescriptivist coalie.

If I phrased it exactly that way "can definitely happen" then I would be equally happy with both. If I wouldn't be equally happy with B I wouldn't have mentioned B.

your ideal gifts

Overly earnest take: if we lived in utopia where there were never any matching issues or defaults or any pinch hits whatsoever, I would be fine with socks and probably have some myself. I very often write more than one fic, so it would be nice to be guaranteed two or three gifts in return.

But we don't live in that particular utopia, and in practice, some PHers (whether signed up or not) are going to have to write fics without being guaranteed them in return for the exchange to function. So I'm not really cool with "writer A wrote N fics and is only guaranteed 1, writer B wrote N fics and is guaranteed N." I understand that some/most of the treats I write aren't the same as PHs because they're for people who already have an assigned writer, but from a Kantian "what if everyone did this" perspective I don't think socking is fair.

Same, this is why I try to list my prompts with the same level of excitement/importance. I want any/all of them but at the end of the day, they are only suggestions for my author.

* Character is having a baby with worst person imaginable
* Tending wounds leads to kissing
* Christmas ghost story

Americans have said it wrong for long enough that people have started accepting it as a regionalism. Still wrong, though.

It was 3-4 before 2014, 2014 had ten accounts that slipped up, and apparently after they banned her the first time she went "you can't tell me what to to" and tried to come back with 15+.

That's kind of simplifying it but the mis-linked letter definitely kicked the investigation off.
