Anyone else intimidated by their recip? Mine is regularly regarded as one of the best writers in the fandom and I’m so scared my gift won’t live up

Honestly some other writers may not think your fic is "worthy" of being given to the BNF. That's just how writing for a BNF goes. All that matters is that the BNF likes it, and they probably don't think their writing is a gold standard - they're person just like you. If they felt like their amazing fic satisfied them and no other writer came close to delivering, they wouldn't have requested the fandom. They're probably extremely eager to read your fic (especially if you include their prompts or likes) and will be so happy that you wrote for them.

I'm a researcher coalie and even then I'm sorta "oh boy" at my recip this year. Clearly they know a lot about these canons for which I am going to have to do a lot of research! And not even because of the nitpicky details; there's just so much cultural history that I want to make sure I get it right.

Please Yuletide Fairy, help me figure out and complete this plot that I started for the same recipient in 2019. Also if you could give me a plot to go with this perfect pun title for a different fic for the same person, that'd be stellar.

I have three steps:

1. Come up with an actual good title on my own.

If this fails, proceed to the next step.

2. Search for quotes related some of the themes of the fic. Find an appropriate quote and yoink a part of it that seems titleable.

If this fails, proceed to the next step.

3. Pick a word completely at random. Does it have anything at all to do with the fic? Who cares, I have a title!
