Like, before I started watching it, I assumed it would be kind of overdramatic and take itself too seriously, but I could not have predicted the ways in which it would take itself too seriously. (OK, no, I did entirely predict "America: Witch Police" re: the vague global oversight role of North American witches, with only a token nod so far to other countries being unhappy about America's military actions in other regions.)

No, I know what you mean - I love a lot of things about the idea of the Salem witches negotiating to become a branch of the American military, but there wasn't much about the execution that was a surprise there. :| (Though the end of S1 could plausibly lead to additional plotlines about non-US witches, and I'd be thrilled if they rolled with that.) But for me, a lot of the rest of the show was like ... I don't know what I was expecting, but it WASN'T THAT. *____*???

Haha, I really want to poll anyone starting out about what they expected. For myself, I expected the military training thing to be far more like a normal boot camp. Whereas these kids have all the free time and no structure.
