Just some fun facts:

In 2020:
145 prolific writers wrote a total of 659 works
Those 145 writers account for 9.78% of the 1482 writers signed up*
Those 659 works account for 31.28% of the 2107 works posted

In 2019:
146 prolific writers wrote a total of 660 works
Those 146 writers account for 10.05% of the 1453 writers signed up*
Those 660 works account for 31.84% of the 2073 works posted

In 2018:
157 prolific writers wrote a total of 740 works
Those 157 writers account for 10.32% of the 1522 writers signed up*
Those 740 works account for 33.96% of the 2179 works posted

*It is possible that one or more prolific writers are purely treaters or PHers who did not sign up, but I did not trawl through the list cross-referencing. All numbers are for main collection, not maddness

Cool numbers, coalie. It's interesting how the share of total works written by prolific treaters is actually pretty stable, and the percentage of participants who treat prolifically also seems stable.

This isn't a prolific treaters stat, but I found the average # of gifts per person over the three years, and those numbers also all looked really similar, although there's a slight decrease over time.
2018 - 1.432
2019 - 1.427
2020 - 1.422

Yeah, I thought it was fascinating that the number of prolific writers and number of their stories from last year to this was only different by 1 in each case! As sign ups and works total increase, their percentages go down slightly, but are still pretty consistent. (Same with your avg # of gifts)

It would also be great to compare to earlier years, to see if these trends stay consistent over time, or if they have jumped up/fallen down.

I was too lazy to hunt down all the prolific treater data over time, but I did grab all the work and signup counts since 2010 (the first year signups were on AO3). It was easier to post it in an image than try to make it readable as text, so:

Also I have to apologize to coalie downthread: the 2013/14 lists are of 2+ fics. My hazy memories did not recall that, since 3+ has been the norm since. I did recall the fight about it in 2018, though.

Also also, I was surprised to find that one of these was compiled by myself. I'd forgotten that I'd lead it that year too. :P
