Coalway to Hell

Yuletide Weather Forecast:

Temperatures are estimated to fluctuate between active panic and total apathy into the next weekend. Main assignments will have a minimum temperature of regret and a complete climate change once editing is complete. Expect treat writing to continue at all free hours unless the dangerous front of procrastination cropping up in the Northeast successful moves into the area, effectively killing the treat storm conditions for the season.

Why are people saying to put it in Madness? I'd get it if the recip had signed up this year asking for different fandoms than what you're writing, but since that's not the case I don't see what difference it makes.

Morbane/the mods have said you're supposed to put treats for people that didn't sign up in madness. I'm not sure if it's enforceable (e.g. if they'd kick out a fic) but that's officially the mod's line.

I see. There's really no reasoning for it, but I suppose that's par for the course when it comes to a lot of the mods' decisions.

I agree, but I guess the reason is that Madness is for treats that can't be main gifts: under 1k, posted after the main collection closed, missing all requested characters, fandoms that weren't requested/don't have a recip, etc. Technically writing for someone who didn't sign up = can't be a main gift, so it should go into madness.
