Yuletide Weather Forecast:

Temperatures are estimated to fluctuate between active panic and total apathy into the next weekend. Main assignments will have a minimum temperature of regret and a complete climate change once editing is complete. Expect treat writing to continue at all free hours unless the dangerous front of procrastination cropping up in the Northeast successful moves into the area, effectively killing the treat storm conditions for the season.

I have a fandom-general likes combo plot bunny but not much time. 200 words is just an example.

Stick it in Madness so I'm gentler with my expectations.

200 words is more or less my expectation for a Madness treat these days.

It can't go in main collection at less than 1000 anyway.

Write it! The recip, and everyone else interested in the fandom, will appreciate it.

I really love short fic, so I'd get excited. Given it would have to go in Madness, I'd be expecting >1000 words when I saw it existed, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for longfic either.

I've always been delighted by short Madness treats, go for it!

I would prefer a well done (whether that means well-written prose, clever dialogue, a really funny idea, what have you) 200 word treat over a mediocre-to-bad 5k treat. If you have a good idea for something short, go for it!

If it's bad or mediocre/not what I was hoping for, I'll be glad it's short.

If it's good or great I will wish it was longer, and I would give you a comment that would hopefully make you like me so much that you want to expand it out to a full-length treat.

I personally think no treat is better than an awful long treat, but when it comes to shortfic then I'll take anything from bad to excellent over nothing at all.

I'd be delighted with it!
