What pairs were you hoping people would offer, particularly? Since you have to offer two+ characters. /curious

Personally I was planning on having prompts for each of them individually, and also having prompts for them in pairs. I think it would be fascinating to see what any of them made of each other, and how they would react to the others. An afterlife fic like A Proud Taste of Scarlet and Miniver, for instance! Or a time-travel fic. Or a fic in which a pair didn't directly interact, but their lives/relationships/experiences were contrasted in some way.

I just find these four fascinating, both singly and together, and would have really enjoyed them as a group.

It looks like they have now, thankfully, but they kept it up for another couple of years. I did avoid our shared fandoms for a couple of YTs.

It looks like a couple of their other recipients got gift fics with similar problems, too, but I think those "AUs" worked better with those fandoms than it did with mine.

But it's still weird. My main question is still, "why?"

I don't like it either.

My long-standing DW account got hacked by my dickhead ex a while back, and I've locked it all down. I don't want to have to sign up for a new one just for YT.

That sucks. Good thing you don't actually need an account, just put a name in the comment. It probably doesn't even have to be a real name.

This is an entirely fair critique, haha. If i had been around last year and seen the nearly-identical one get rejected I would have been more careful.

But i do have other things to request, it won't Ruin My Yuletide.

a fic that technically hit my requests, but was prefaced by a long note from the author about how they only ever write in second person (which i always DNW) and they hated writing in third or first person, but they tried just for me even though they hated it so much and the fic was probably terrible but they WROTE IT ANYWAY because they'd been matched to me and they didn't want to default even though they hated not writing in second person and also the pairing so so so very much

the author's note was almost a third of the length of the fic itself and by the time i was done reading it i wish they'd just defaulted. never did comment on that gift. left a long gushing comment on an actually amazing treat i got instead and didn't feel even a little guilty about it.

LOL, I’m in the same boat, and it’s something like Dr. SuperSecretYuletideNomSock, and, double oops, has a fandom I’ve claimed publicly with my main account. Sorry for ghosting, mods, but it seems like you’ll make the correct conclusion.

That said, this might be worth challenging once we can see the tagset, on the grounds that you weren't around last year, and it seems reasonable that you shouldn't be expected to read ALL the posts from the year you didn't participate just to find out whether someone else had attempted something exactly like what you wanted to do, and what the outcome of that was. Obviously the characters are all eligible, and they can be given a suitable category name, so there's a chance the mods will feel lenient.

...there's also a chance that they've been accepted under another category and you just can't see that from your nominations page. Who knows!

The mass confusion caused by Taylor Swift is making me laugh.

My main account needs to put in an NYR story (which I'll do before sign-ups) because I had to default after deadline due to a family issue. (My dentist's story went in early and without issue.)

If I provide the link to my nominations to verify my main account's nomination, will the mods see the nomination has come from a technically black-listed account?
