is there going to be plausible deniability about being a coalie/gentlefailer or is it a specifically Anon Meme thing?

if not, you could ask what people’s favorite thread/coal poll/etc was?

if so, maybe a fandom they wished they’d requested/nommed or written in this year? that’s a good conversation starter.

CYRT

#1 is what I'm wondering most about, actually! Would people prefer Plausible Deniability, or should I straight up call it an anonmeme deanoning friending meme?

This coalie prefers plausible deniability? Some of us will know how it got started, but any yuletider who might have found it via a link to a link to a link can play, too, and everyone's welcome.

That was my feeling too. Maybe we have a low-key shibboleth of some sort so that coalies know to recognise other coalies?

If you want to do that then why not just make it coalie centric? People that were linked in namespace or want deniability can answer “I don’t actually go there” to any coalie type friending questions.

People on coal = coalies
People on fail fandom anon = gentlefailers
People on lol-meme = memers

Gentlefailers feels a bit quaint and out of day at this point, though. Nonnies is a much more common term.

Nonnies has some cross pollination now. I’ve seen people refer to all members of any anon comm a nonnie more commonly over the past few years. Gentlefailer is obvious with the “fail” suffix.

+1

Sometimes I have to stop myself from accidentally calling someone "nonnie" in namespace. (Or in real life!)

Gentlefailers doesn't get used much on FFA proper these days, though. It's more often a tell for someone from another anon comm who doesn't spend much time on FFA.

FFA calls themselves memers, too.
