You just gave tl;dr about why you’re done commenting for now but not for good, but don’t understand that other people may be in the same boat? Have you seen them announce publicly that they’re finished commenting or something?

My thoughts exactly.

It’s even more understandable if all the fics are “similar” like they say since reading them within the same short period and trying to say something new is hard as hell. That’s only if the read by fandom anyway.

Why are so many of the judgey coalies the “when I call in sick to work it’s because I’m sick or tired and won’t be able to function well so me going in won’t benefit either of us BUT WHEN MY COWORKERS CALL IN it’s because they’re lying freeloaders who probably were out partying the night before and have no responsibility to force themselves to show up, lazy fucks!!!” types, wth. Allow others the same excuses you give yourself jfc.

Very true. Those are definitely the situations I have the hardest time commenting in. And honestly, if they're all the same, that's the situation where I'm MOST likely to just comment on the fic I received.

That's not really the same situation or what I said at all. I would guess people are mostly likely to comment on stories in the fandoms they love the most and requested first, and I'm disappointed that doesn't seem to be the case this year. That's pretty much it.

Particularly in ones where the stories are all pretty similar and could really be for almost anyone who requested it.

Sure.

I would guess people are mostly likely to comment on stories in the fandoms they love the most and requested first

The fact that you fan see multiple people apparently don’t should make you revaluate your guess.

The fact that most larger fandoms do have fics that are similar encourage you to take breaks and read elsewhere because it is hard to think of multiple ways to say “hot” or “so creepy” in succession. Variety of the many other fandoms helps me see each of those similar fics for their unique points instead of having them run into one big lump.

Nobody is being stingy since you aren’t owed any comments. If you’re so obsessed over a person that isn’t your recip’s feedback, you should have gifted it to them. Real life or their reading order may make you wait a long time, aka more than a dang week.

Discussing something is exactly the same thing as being obsessed about it.

They checked and noticed who hadn’t commented on multiple fics and formed a strong enough opinion about it to vague about it here by declaring People are just so stingy with their comments and kudos.

They started off their comment by saying they aren’t done commenting but are done for the anon period. Why is understandable for them to be done but the other people in their fandoms who still have commenting to do are stingy?

So is it having an opinion you disagree with or just having an opinion at all that counts as obsession? Just trying to get it straight.

Holding an opinion and forming judgements for actions you yourself do is shitty. Caring that much to remember the letters, requests, and commenting patterns of who did or didn’t comment on any given fic is being obsessed and misguided.

It’s not that I disagree, it’s asshole hypocrisy.

So it's obsession to happen to remember the requests in certain fandoms and notice when the requesters do or don't comment on stories in that fandom. I'm gonna note that down for future reference. Thanks, coalie.

nc but...yeah that is weird. are you really going “hmm morbane requested muppets but im not seeing her in this comment section. filing that away for later...”? how could you possibly care

honestly i would assume it was the people in that fandom all writing for one another? they don’t want to deanon their story so they wait until reveals to comment. it’s a standard yuletide move. acting like people are “stingy” is fuckin wild lol

DC Usually when people get upset over some of the fandom not commenting on other things in the fandom, I just assume they mean the work(s) they themselves wrote and assumed other people who requested would also comment on. If they're talking about their own work(s), they know it isn't by the other people, and they also are seeing all the comments as they're made.
