What's the criteria for "no gift hero"?

Write fic but not receive one - pinch hitting or treating while not signed up, generally.

Hopefully those people who pinch hit/treat but don't want gifts don't start being bugged because of this.

Unless they put up PH letters, theres no way for them to get treats/accolades beyond good egg mentions.

Except now there's a list of them and people do write things without requests/letters, so that's no longer true.

But how would you know their fandoms. Just pick whatever they’ve written in the past that is Yuletide eligible?

The unrequested treat author would have to put it in Madness. Someone doing ODAO treats for people that gave no indication they are still in the fandom/want them is 100% in it for the eyeballs and is not going to waste their idea on Madness to be forgotten and ignored.

This is an invented problem that exists only in your mind coalie.

People were talking about exactly looking at past Yuletide letters and fandoms for pinch hitters, and people signed up who had only placeholders, yes indeed.

Nobody has any idea you took a PH unless you de-anon on the post where PHers ask for fics. The only way anyone will know you did Yuletide is on 1/1/2020 and by then it is too late and would have to be a NYR.

Even if they did see a letter from 2002, if you ARE NOT SIGNED UP and DID NOT REQUEST THAT FANDOM THIS YEAR, it has to go into madness.

If you are one of the extremely rare cases where someone picks your prompt from years ago even though you gave no indication at all that you’re doing Yuletide this year (or even still alive) and give you a gift you don’t even want to pretend to engage with in Madness, you can reject that thing and never look back.

This is an invented problem. In your head. It you are seriously this upset about it then you can DM coadie and ask that you be blacklisted from the app even though your name is all over the Yuletide collection for anyone to notice and see. This isn’t some Mutant Registration Act taking away your rights, coalie. Unless you sock up/stay anon (which tbh it sounds like you should if this is an active fear for you) then we have always been able to know you were writing treats/PHs despite signing up. You showed up on the prolific list.

So you admit it happens. GTK.

It literally hasn’t happened. Link me to one single case.

The not-signed-up pinch hitters who do post their requests rarely get treats as it is. There is no slavering horde waiting at the gates to treat pinch hitters who haven't made any requests.

There hasn't been an easily-accessible list before now. And people do go write stuff without requests, and do gift people who haven't asked for things.

1. It would have to go in madness.

2. There would be ZERO wank if the recip rejected asap without commenting. The author would have to pull a heeroluva and keep it anon forever because the moment reveals happened the would be wanked to hell and back.

Why is wank relevant?

Given that rejecting exists....what is any sort of bad thing about this situation?

A could gift B a fic about anything at literally any time of the year. B can read it if they want to reject it without any issue. If B doesn’t care about what other people think (wank) then it happening during Yuletide is literally no difference.

B’s life is not ruined because some loser tried to force a comment from them and got shot down for their trouble. It’s 2 seconds out of their day to hit reject if they are the 1 in a million that this happens to in Yuletide 2020.

Oh my goodness coalie, rejection existing being a minimiser is just fucked up - akin to 'just say no'.

Either peer pressure (wank) exists and it is on their side because the author is the one going very much against the grain. Or wank is not an issue and then there is no peer pressure at all.

ayrt There has been an easily accessible list of pinch hitters who are actually asking for gifts. If those people usually don't get gifts, I really doubt there's going to be a flood of unrequested gifts for people who aren't asking.

This problem exists only in your mind.
