What is with all these people certain they'll make it onto the good egg lists? I comment widely but never make it onto the lists because I'm not active in namespace and basically don't have friends that will put my name down. I can't ever imagine being CERTAIN someone will put me down as a good egg.

Honestly more people should do this. The worst thing will be if someone goes “who?” or drags up receipts showing you were a bad egg. The majority of the time no one will say anything, and you never know, you may have people that like you and will +1 by sharing anecdotes where you made their day.

However if you think all/the majority of good eggs are self noms then you’re crazy.

I’m on the list and I have no namespace presence beyond requesting and commenting on fics. I intentionally never own up to being on any meme and have no friends that do Yuletide/know I do Yuletide. Most people aren’t recced by friends. It’s random people that like you, and if the random people that like you aren’t on meme at all/during the time the thread is up then you won’t get a mention, that much is true.

You can assume you’ll be on the good egg commenter list if you’re already on there. If you’re new but think you left a good comment in a fic a coalie wrote or that your recip was obvious about liking on coal, your odds are very good.

Finally, most people don’t like putting up others for good egg status. Mostly because of people like you, who insist that it’s a circle jerk or the NNF mentioned is a self rec, so you will see a lot of the same names because there is some security in knowing A has been vetted and is an unobjectionable good egg while B who only you know may get wank and it’ll be “your” fault.
