Ma’am, it’s still Nazis in a Nazi setting. Even if the comic sounded even half well done, being fannish about Schindler’s List (good Nazi! fight the power!) or Life Is Beautiful (fake Nazid! tonally different!) would probably still get you a heavy side-eye.

You know, the slippery slope is supposed to be a fallacy, but you're making an excellent case for it. You'd side-eye someone for being fannish about Life is Beautiful? Fucking really?

If I had to choose between a seasick crocodile and someone who just needs to have a real genocide in their canons...

I legit don't get it. It's not like fandom has any shortage of people being fannish about canons with evil Nazis. How is a canon about some Nazi who smuggles kids from a concentration camp worse?

There's a difference between giving someone the side-eye and calling someone a Nazi sympathizer for being fannish about canons that deal with Nazis in any capacity, though. If people stuck to side-eyeing this person I wouldn't blame them. The comic sounds side-eyeable. It's the way people continuously call this person a Nazi, a Nazi sympathizer, and a Nazi fetishist for liking media about Wehrmacht soldiers working against the Nazis from within that makes this whole thing feel ridiculously over-the-top to me.

Especially when we had 2 actualfax Nazis.

In a perfect world where this was the most extreme kinks/content then alright. But we had real Nazis, we have Aja who likes real serial killers, we had Kevin Spacey RPF or whatever that was, it goes on and on. We have multiple other people that requested Nazis this year! The focus on this one person and holding them to a standard other participants aren’t scrutinized at is what makes this wank so tedious. I honestly would care less if these trolls were drumming up lists of all the Nazi kinkers because at least it would he consistent. Only care about one person makes it BEC and makes you hiding behind “I care about anti-semitism!” super gross because no you fucking don’t, you just want a stick to poke aquatics with.

People literally didn’t wank this hard or consistently about ars_belli. Let that settle in.

To be fair, ars_belli didn't request Nazis in ten different exchanges every year or constantly pop up on FFA like "I found some good uniform kink fic!" [five comments later] "Oh, btw it's Heydrich/Himmler, teehee!" If they'd made a habit of that I think the wank about them would be far more extensive.

I for one have no problem with Aquatics being in Desert Peach fandom; it's the way they go about it that irritates me. Plus, they've attracted an incredibly tedious and annoying troll, which isn't their fault but does turn them into an endless wank nexus.

I think there's more than one person who doesn't like how aquatics does Desert Peach fandom, and they're not trolls.

Otherwise I agree the way they behave around exchanges and in rec threads is obnoxious.

But there is someone, or perhaps several someones, on FFA who frequently brings them up for no real reason just to bitch about them eating crackers, and that person is a troll.

Maybe just maybe the fact that people can’t even handle the side-eye or people thinking it’s distasteful has something to do with the escalation of bad faith. Or maybe you can just tut tut at people when they get too uppity for your tastes.
