I'm going to assume a few instances and FFA is just making it seem like it's a fourth of the collection. I still haven't seen any links to fics confirming this has been the case.

The two parties who would notice are the recipient and the writer, both of whom have vested interest in not de-anoning. The recips don't want to out themselves or to get raked over the coals for not appreciating the new masterpiece and the writers don't dare admit by name they upload incomplete works because that's a bannable offense.

I doubt they were incomplete works if they made it through the initial phase. I bet they were bus passes that were technically finished, full fics, but not what the author wanted to give to their recips.

Not that it makes it any better, but I would think incomplete fics would've gotten caught before reveals.

I'd say that would have made it better, but no, that's not what happened. :(
