small fandom recs!

What small fandoms do you want, or want much more of, in future Yuletides? The ones you’ve wished for lo these many years, the old favorites ripe for rediscovery, the brand-new releases you’re full of fresh enthusiasm about ... what should coalies get into for next year?

Zone Blanche. Especially if we get a third season.

oh I've been thinking about this entirely too much recently:

- The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals - really good musical by Team Starkid, needs the Yuletide treatment
- Alex Rider series - teen spy shenanigans but also the teen spy in question is getting Really Done with all this shit the government's putting him through
- My Brother My Brother And Me - I want the boys goofing around in real life and doing weird McElroy stuff and AUS!! not enough fic for that, let's be honest
- Classic Doctor Who RPF - with the stories of the things that went down on-set, I feel like there's plenty of room to play in the space
- The House With The Clock In Its Walls - not so much the movie (although it WAS really good) as the books, because I read those earlier this year and they're really interesting and fun
- HORG - self-explanatory.

Is the Alex Rider book series eligible? I thought the fic count was over.

The new TV series probably will be eligible, though, if that's what you mean.

the books are over the count? :( aw man I wasn't paying attention. That sucks. Hopefully the TV series will be good.

Yeah, there's like 3000 fics on FFN, and with filtering, I'm guessing that's still at least 1000 completed, 1k words, in English, etc.

I hope the TV series will be good, too!

I would love GWDLM fic but I can't see how to make it work, considering the ending.

there are many ways, coalie!

- AUs (ranging from canon-divergent to completely separated from canon)
- pre-canon fics
- some people have speculated that Paul was faking being part of the hive in Inevitable ('what if your only choice was/you had to sing to survive' - 'i'm still the man you trust!' - 'put your words to lyrics and you're playing the game now') - which is a great jumping off point if you want to explore what the hell his plan was AFTER that
- perspectives of people who aren't Paul/Emma/the rest of the main cast - basically anyone else in Hatchetfield, because seeing everyone start singing and dancing like that must be absolutely terrifying
- post-canon exploring how the hive functions - are there any remnants of consciousness from the people it's hijacked at all? is there any hope for humanity whatsoever?
- missing scenes from the show - other musical numbers that happened, etc

you can fic ANYTHING if you put your mind to it

Until We Meet Again. Episodes are still being released right now - it's about two boys who committed suicide when confronted by homophobic parents, and they reincarnate and find each other again. Even with the grim premise, both pairs of incarnations are adorable together with boyfriends fluff all around. The side characters are great, too. Like most drama fandoms, there's not a lot of English language fic, though, so it'd be neat to see some at Yuletide next year.

Also, since I'm still frustrated and want more fix-it fic, Make Our Days Count.

Not-yet-released, but I'm looking forward to Ryan Murphy's Netflix movie of The Boys in the Band and I hope there are lots of requests for it next Yuletide! The whole Broadway cast are reprising their roles which will mean the cast is made up of entirely openly gay actors, and they're all amazing.
