I haven't noticed that issue yet, but when I kudosed one fic, the list with the user names and guest kudos didn't update, even though it told me I had already kudosed when I tried again.

According to Morbane on the discord last night, there was an AO3 update (I'm assuming that's what the number thing was, anyway) to cache work and bookmark counts and only update every half hour or so to take stress off Elasticsearch. I'll bet this is the same thing.
