I felt like this for a couple of years, but not this time. I discovered that it was a Me Problem because I was just not into the smaller fandoms enough. Now that I picked up a few new books and watched some m/m movies from coalies' rec lists, I'm GOLDEN.

Yeah, I think the key to enjoying Yuletide is to get interested in several small fandoms every year. If you just stick with the same fandoms, people eventually lose interest and you get more picky about what you'll read for them.

Yuletide has always worked for me because I watch a LOT of TV, so there's always several things small and new that I'm enthusiastic about each year. I have some fandoms I request multiple times (ongoing shows I still love a year later, some perennial fandoms, esp. if I revisited them lately), but generally my slate of requests and offers looks pretty different year to year, which keeps things fresh.

This is my favorite Yuletide year in a while, and a lot of it's because I've consumed a lot of new canons this year (mostly books and movies, a couple of TV shows).

I got into a bunch of smaller fandoms this year but nobody really picked them up in Yuletide. I think it's a combination of what people pick up and how many other people also want it that year.

oh, this! I was excited to see a lot of requests and letters that didn't get written in the end. I might have to remedy that in the next few months, actually.
