The recip's DNWs included "overly dark storyline that is beyond canon-typical" -- "canon-typical" for O. Henry does include death and angst but it's still not something I'd have written for someone with that DNW. :-/

This particular story contains death. Shame on the author for writing a story with three deaths in it, I guess?

CYRT: Nope. I just don’t think an author’s other work counts for” canon-typical.” Not like we got a Gift of the Magi fic with dead lesbians here.

SC: Just realized my first comment wasn’t very clear. The *original story* contains one death, the *fic* contains thrice that. Including an entire background het pairing. So I’m not too tore up about it.

Sorry, I thought you were defending the fic author by pointing out the content of the original story. I reread it last night after this and realized there was only one death in the original.
