It doesn’t matter if the prompts sucked, that is what ODAO. You still can’t turn AND matching into an OR fic.

The flip side of this wank is the Die Hard fic that was all about John’s wife and not the requested John/Matt ship.

Well if Matt was mentioned in passing, god forbid the recip mention it to a mod, I guess, because he's not required to actually have a line or anything to count as being in the fic.

Sometimes I just don't know.

But it's not an "or." That's the point. One character is there in a very small role. The requirements are met. It's a technicality that means you're maybe not getting quite what you wanted, but it's still one that A) you know the mods aren't really going to give a shit about and B) that you know doesn't really matter in the scheme of things. So really, you just want to have a tantrum.

Privately going to the mods to say “I’m not sure if this is a bad thing, but I don’t want anyone else to have a bad time next year even though I had a good time” is the opposite of a tantrum. They could have sat on this information but they are trying too look out for that author and their future recips. If you are so focused on the “they had a good time so who cares” part that you can’t see that then I’m sorry.
