Coalie in Post-DeadlineLand

Coalie was beginning to get very tired of waiting for their gift to be posted, and of having nothing to shake: once or twice they had peeped into the tags of the fic their dentist had been gifted, but it had no characters or freeforms on it, "and what is the use of a fic," thought Coalie, "without ships or tags?"

This or that

The overarching question being: Is PWP opt-in or opt-out?

So I desperately want to write some PWP, but of the requested ships I can confidently write for:
Potential recip #1 has no letter, no additional information, no bookmarks, but they have written PWP
Potential recip #2 only has gen prompts for this ship but they have PWP of this ship in their bookmarks
Potential recip #3 says they would like anything for the ship which has zero fics on AO3 but they have zero E-rated bookmarks

1 sounds perfectly safe. Both 2 and 3 might be fine or might be hazardous.

I'd go 1, 3, 2.

3 sounds like your best bet. They say they ship it and want anything.

1 has wank potential (just because they write porn doesn’t mean they want to read it) and 2 specifically asked for only gen. Maybe they’re not in the mood for porn or something happened that made them not want it atm.

It's not an issue of legality but common courtesy.

As for your potential recips, I'd probably write for #1 because a sign-up like that is begging for ODAO and they're saying the same thing as #3 (that they'd be fine with anything) but are in less of a position to grouch over an ODAO treat.

I mean I guess the only exception would be if they're requesting A/B and A and B are relatives in a fandom that doesn't lean towards incest.

1 is the safest bet if you want to write PWP without stirring the pot since it is opt-out.

But I feel like 3 might enjoy it the most, since they explicitly ship it.

It's only opt-in if it involves other things that are opt-in (noncon/dubcon, incest, age difference, beastiality... off the top of my head) otherwise it's opt-out.

As someone who has their E-rated bookmarks hidden, I'd go with recip #3. I'd just be really nervous over gifting PWP to someone who might not even ship them.

I've decided to go with Recip #3, thanks for the feedback! Doing some canon review now. I was equally excited to write fic for all three ships and while I agree #1 is the safest option, I worry they (like #2) might not actually ship them. There's a fair amount of on-screen sex for canon #3 so I think the recipient is probably open to it. Fingers crossed!

late to the party but looking at this is a tad depressing since it seems like all the letters are lackluster but still treat-worthy

Nayrt but bad/nonexistent letter for a canon I know >>> stellar letter for an unknown canon

I am also a compulsive shipper. If you ship rarepair A/B I will write you all the fic. ...Or at least one fic!

1 is your best bet, 3 would be okay too. I'd avoid 2.
