Coalie was beginning to get very tired of waiting for their gift to be posted, and of having nothing to shake: once or twice they had peeped into the tags of the fic their dentist had been gifted, but it had no characters or freeforms on it, "and what is the use of a fic," thought Coalie, "without ships or tags?"

Isn't it awesome that you get at least one personalized gift, and then you get more gifts because other people have requested fandoms you love?

I have a gift, no treats, but lots of potential gifts since there are other stories in my requested fandoms, too.

This doesn't usually work for me because all my current fandoms are so tiny that no one else ever requests them.

This is a very old fandom of mine that I haven't requested in Yuletide in a decade or so, and seeing someone else not only ask for the fandom (not that usual) but also my preferred character combination (very usual) and a prompt that's exactly what I wanted from this ship and actually getting it is a very rare delight.

I beta-read a story that I absolutely loved! That was like a gift for me, too! (And the changes I suggested made it even more up my alley, so, it was even tailored to my specifications, in a way.)
