The exact same, with minor tweaks. It's already gone through several rewrite and editing stages, if a beta doesn't suggest anything major, it's probably staying the way it is.

reveals: high definition

Deadline: Under 2k but tagged accurately with what should make the recips still feel good even though it's short.

Reveals: Closer to 10k on both.

By Deadline: OK but needs polishing
By Reveals: Polished till it sparkles!

At deadline: Way too many words of creepy shit with a weak last third.

At reveals: Way too many words of even more creepy and possibly sexy shit with like 4 more scenes added and a hopefully well-developed last third.

Fic right now: 1.6k words of disconnected series of sketchy scenes of friends-to-lovers

Fic at reveals: ~3k words with better flow/transitions & more fleshed out UST in the scenes

Deadline: Sweet missing scene that answers some questions relevant to something otherwise relegated to Word of God.

Reveals: Full character arc for a very minor character that delves into these questions in greater detail.

Assignment:

Now: Definitely ran out of steam by the end.

Then: Expanded ending and more words all around.

Now: Okay, but probably needs a few more scenes.

Then: Has said scenes! Also more tags.

Your fic at deadline: Really basic formatting and a slapped on title

Your fic at reveals: Hopefully, some spiffy formatting, and a decent title.

Fic at deadline: pretty long, unpolished, placeholder title and summary.
Fic at reveals: probably a bit longer, polished, maybe beta'd, better title and summary.

My fic at deadline: 2000 words of serviceable fic, low rating, minimally tagged

My fic at reveals: Between 5000 and 7500 words depending on whether my beta and I can tweak this sex scene to my satisfaction, hopefully M-rated, still minimally tagged because tagging is my least favorite part of anything.

Fic at deadline: character A realizes they have feelings for character B, which is bittersweet because it’s hopeless.

Fic at reveal: actually it’s not hopeless and they get together!

Same plot but I plan to rewrite it a ton and possibly change the structure. I'm just happy I actually finished a passable version before the deadline.

Fic right now: 1k of awful, pointless gen
Fic at reveals: 10k of pre-ship for one of my recipient's prompts that is hopefully at least decent

At deadline: solid 3000 words, with an ambiguous ending, minimal character development and needs more work in its setting and themes, but would be an adequate gift

At reveals: hopefully 6000+ words, with a different, but still ambiguous, ending, a lot more character development and conflict, and fully fleshed out themes

my fic at deadline: a 4k expansion of a sex scene from a much bigger story,hopefully coherent and contextualised enough you can't tell it's an extract

my fic at reveals: the same, but beta read and closer to 5k

my fic in the NYR collection: I think maybe like 12k of the story I just didn't have time and energy to write this year. hopefully. fingers crossed. I never usually manage to follow through on this stuff but I really hope I will.
