The argument is this: There are two types who engage in these debates.
1. People on either side who firmly believe in their POV. There is no argument or revelatory information that some random anon is going to give that is going to change these people's POV, for better or worse. That means that Pro-Palestine/Anti-Genocide won't be swayed by Zionist rhetoric in this specific case, but also that you aren't gonna somehow come up with the magic words to make a Zionist flip sides. There are instances, usually IRL and via people whom they know and already respect, where you can make an impact. An anon meme isn't gonna be it.
2. Trolls or people who picked a side for shallow reasons in the same way people will fight for hours over Wincest or Destiel being more canon.
It does no good for type 1 to talk to one another on an anon meme because FFA is not an activist space and there is no marketplace of fandom ideas where it's worth coming together on these type of real life political issues. Type 1 interacting with type 2 just leads to feeding the trolls and type 1 genuinely having their feelings hurt.
If you genuinely think that you have to share your POV in a fannish space as if it's actually moving the needle or history will look back with judgement that your anonymous comment wasn't there to push back on some Zionist or troll saying unhinged shit...it does have shades of narcissism.
I'm willing to have this dumb debate with you because I'm waiting for my train. You could not pay me, even with a gun to my head, get me to talk to an anon Zionist. I guess we are built different.
