I wonder about this. I am mostly in older fandoms (I guess as far as I’m “in” any fandoms?), and I guess there’s probably a slightly better ratio of good fic to bad fic but really, i think that the secret is that I’m no longer to give every fic published a try and I only try a story if I think it looks actually good. So I kind of mentally filter out the badfic.
