I think the mods started specifically asking people not to contact recipients directly even anon, probably because a lot of writers are kinda crap about being vague enough in asking questions to preserve the surprise. (Like, "Do you have any specific preferences for robot genitalia?" type questions when you've asked for three mundane fandoms and Transformers porn as your fourth, etc.)
