+1. And some people like to line up the ideas for a bunch of fics, percolate on 'em, and then go on a writing blitz. Jumping back and forth between multiple works energizes them and stimulates their creativity.
There are probably as many approaches as there are participants. Telling someone "you must do it this way" isn't going to change the way they do things. It just makes the One True Way people look rigid and unimaginative.
