But I meant to say that it was that specific style of/era in m/m fics they were fetishizing, not the ships. Or kinking on, if you prefer that language. Or obsessed with. Not just the ships but clinging to being part of that very specific fandom tradition at the expense of everything else. It's like the fandom equivalent of somebody whose whole house is 1970s kitsch down to contents of their bathroom cupboard. And that's not necessarily bad but it's definitely kinktomato.
